Rigid PCBs are often more durable and adaptable than flexible PCBs, making them ideal for use in a range of applications. In addition, flexible PCBs can be used to solve space requirements. There are even more benefits to rigid PCBs as follow:

  1. Easier for repair
  2. More durable when working in harsh environment
  3. Lower noise and less components talking
  4. Can be used to make complex PCB, so the products size become smaller.

Rigid PCB Design

The manufacturing process for a rigid PCB begins with the design of a layout in a PCB layout design software. Once the layout is complete, soldering the components to the rigid PCB begins.

When designing rigid PCBs, you should consider the design for flexibility. Rigid-flex PCBs can be used for a wide range of electronic devices. The design of a rigid-flex PCB should take into account its flexibility and bending coverage. Using a rigid PCB for an electronic project will help you maximize its functionalities and minimize costs. If you’re looking for a Rigid PCB assembly solution, Wholepcb is an excellent choice. We can handle any PCB project, from prototyping to mid-volume production. The benefits of partnering with us for rigid PCB assembly service are numerous, including reduced production time and cost, and higher quality boards.

BOM of Rigid PCB Assembly

Once you’ve created a circuit board and documented the components, it’s time to make a bill of materials. You’ll need a bill of materials, which lists every part that will be used during the assembly process. A neutral CAD database is also necessary for the assembly process. This database contains an X-Y placement file for automated placement machinery. A separate Gerber file contains the solder paste stencil artwork, including the solder screen through stencils.

When it comes to rigid PCBs, copper is the most common conductor material. Copper is inexpensive, available, and has good electrical characteristics. Copper foil can be electro-deposited, rolled annealed, or surface-treated. Both methods are available in different thicknesses and weights, and are available in a variety of finishes. Some companies use constantan foil for the fabrication of FPCs. Constantan foil is chemically treated to improve adhesion and reduce bond degradation.

Methods of Rigid PCB Assembly

Rigid PCBs are the most common type of circuit board. They’re made of a hard, solid substrate with copper tracks and component layouts. These boards are typically soldered with surface mount or through-hole technology, but hand soldering is an option as well.

Application of Rigid PCB Assembly

Rigid PCB are used in many different electronic devices, including laptops, desktop computers, audio keyboards, solid-state drives, flat-screen televisions, and various other electronic gadgets.

Besides, the aerospace industry also uses rigid PCBs to minimize electromagnetic noise and minimize crosstalk and current between components. These boards are also made from high-temperature laminates and copper substrates. Some examples of such products are auxiliary power units, airplane cockpit instrumentation, and power converters. Rigid PCBs are ideal for these harsh environments, but they’re also highly expensive to produce. In addition, rigid PCBs make for easier assembly and repair.
